I. Environmental Statement

At Art Litho, we recognize that protecting the environment is both good business and good for the community. We are committed to environmental stewardship as evidenced by our adherence to EPA guidelines and recycling of paper, plates and ink in an attempt to create 100% utilization of our raw materials.

To ensure quality for our customers while protecting the environment, Art Litho’s sheet fed and web presses run cleanly without the use of isopropyl alcohol. We replaced harmful, solvent-based varnishes with aqueous coatings and we use aqueous based plate machines and proofing equipment. In addition, our film processes use silver recovery.

Since the printing industry requires the abundant use of ink, we ensure that our sheet fed presses use vegetable-based inks, which are the safest inks for the environment. In addition, our press emissions are incinerated to reduce contaminates that are entering the air.

To further enhance our environmental commitment, Art Litho Printing Solutions became FSC certified in August of 2006.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)

The Forest Stewardship Council is a global organization promoting responsible forest management. Its standards represent the world’s strongest system for guiding forest management. The FSC Trademark identifies products which contain wood from well-managed forests certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council. Chain of Custody standards are the mechanism FSC uses to ensure compliance with its standards. Chain of Custody is defined as the path taken by raw materials from the forest to the consumer, including all successive stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution. From a customer perspective, the FSC label represents a commitment that Art Litho, and you, are committed to environmentally and socially responsible forest management.

III. FSC Papers

Customers and shareholders are becoming increasingly concerned about environmental and social issues. As such they are requesting that corporate policies reflect their concerns.

By printing on papers from certified sources, you are providing an incentive for responsible forest management. The FSC trademark provides international recognition to companies that promote the growth of responsible forest management.

As a company that uses an average of 60,000 sheets of copy paper every month, Art Litho is is aware of the impact this has on our environment. Because of this, we made a concious effort to switch our office paper choice to FSC-certified office paper throughout our plant.

IV. Clean Energy

To further our environmental mission, Art Litho Printing Solutions is proud to announce the purchase of clean energy in the form of wind power. Wind energy is a renewable resource that reduces the amount of harmful emissions entering the atmosphere. Customers may now have projects printed utitlizing 0-100% wind power on a per job basis.

Art Litho Printing Solutions is buying 10% clean energy or 200,000 kilowatt hours annually.

V. Recycling

In order to reduce waste, Art Litho Printing Solutions regularly recycles paper, aluminum, and ink. Our employee recycling program ensures our staff recycles their used paper and aluminum on a daily basis. In addition, the paper waste resulting from a printing job and leftover ink is collected, separated and recycled.

VI. Education & Safety

Art Litho firmly believes a cleaner environment can only be achieved by educating one person at a time. Art Litho strives to educate through employee training and client-based seminars. In addition, Art Litho follows strict safety procedures in order to ensure our employees are protected from harm, which creates higher levels of employee satisfaction; thereby, leading to a higher quality of output for our clients.

Art Litho is committed to implementing policies that will create the highest quality product for our customers while using environmentally friendly resources.
